Chapter: 143
What could the Jenkins family give to Maria in return for her sacrifice?

ALL she had gotten from them was her identity as an adopted daughter and a forced marriage. That was all.

Maria would be stupid to give up the position of acting chief director of Yeez Entertainment's TV show for their sake.

“How dare she refuse us?" Bill snapped, glaring sharply.

But when he realized that he was misdirecting his anger at his wife, he quickly softened his gaze, smiled apologetically, and held her hand.

Feeling an inexplicable flicker of irritation, Julie shook off his hand.

She said lightly, “Why not? The Jenkins family hasn't given Maria anything, and she has never asked us for anything either. To be blunt, if Maria wants, she can even call off the engagement with the Wilson family. We can't do anything to her. She's the one with the upper hand."

Hearing this, Bill was shocked. As he thought about his wife's words, he had to admit that it was true.

Without any leverage, he didn't dare to make trouble for Maria about the matter of the chief director.

This visit eventually turned out to be a great disappointment to the Jenkins family.

Maria, on the other hand, was in a good mood.

She had just received a message from Anthony saying, “I heard that today is the visiting day, but I have to deal with some matters in the Wilson family first. I will try to get there as soon as I can and have dinner with you."

“Okay Maria's reply was brief as usual, but her heart was filled with joy. She was so excited that she even forgot to eat.

She just kept staring at Anthony's message with a wide smile on her face.

Standing next to Maria was a bald fat man, who was the cook in charge of making the food delivered to the shooting site for the crew every day.

After staring at Maria silently for a while, he finally cleared his throat and asked, "Miss Jenkins, how are the dishes today?"

“Not bad," Maria replied absentmindedly. The cook's face fell.

He had been standing here the whole time and Maria had barely had a bite of the food. How could she say that they weren't bad?

The sun had now started to set, and Maria had grown very hungry.

She was so frustrated upon remembering that she was just able to have a few bites during lunch. However, although she could, she was too embarrassed to ask the crew to prepare some food for her.
