Chapter: 1465
Now that Maria was sure of what was going on, she didn't want to waste any more time talking to Doris, so she got into the car.

The car pulled out of the guest house and drove straight to the Jenkins family manor.

When Maria walked into the manor, she was told that Mrs. Jenkins and the elders were having a meeting and they wanted her to be there as soon as possible.

The meeting was being held in the large dining room. Since it was past breakfast time, all the dishes and cutlery had been removed from the table.

As soon as Maria entered the room, Mrs. Jenkins looked at her with a grave expression.

Standing next to Mrs. Jenkins, Barbara also tried to mirror a similar expression, but her face contorted weirdly.

“Maria, you're finally back! Have you had breakfast yet? Barbara rushed back before dawn," Canaan said suddenly.

He was afraid that Maria was still in the dark about the situation. As long as Maria was smart enough, she would be able to understand the warning hidden in his words.

"Yes, I've eaten. Thank you for your concerns, Canaan," Maria said sincerely.

Sure enough, she could read between the lines and knew that Canaan was trying to help her.

“Canaan, we are about to get down to business. Don't make any comments without my permission from now on," Mrs, Jenkins said sternly.

She hadn't expected Canaan to speak up all of a sudden.

Although she didn't think it would make a difference at this point, she was still displeased with him, and cast him a cold glance.

“Of course," Canaan said, clearing his throat.

Recently, he had been at odds with Mrs. Jenkins. Although he and the other elders were still at a disadvantage, they had enough experience to spar with this wicked woman. In other words, they could pretend to be calm and unaffected whenever needed.

Noticing the glint of recklessness in Canaan's eyes, Mrs. Jenkins frowned. Then, she shifted her attention to Maria and asked indignantly, “Maria, I heard that you sold the formula of the Peony Pill at the charity auction for a high price. Why didn't you mention that you knew such a high-grade formula to anyone in the Jenkins family? Can you explain yourself

“]

Maria began to say something, but she was immediately interrupted by Mrs. Jenkins.

As soon as Mrs. Jenkins let out a loud sigh, Canaan, familiar with her tricks, knew that her show was about to begin.

Sure enough, Mrs. Jenkins' eyes gradually turned wet.

After a few seconds, tears fell down her face.

“Grandma! What's the matter Barbara put her hand on Mrs. Jenkins * shoulder and squinted at her in concern.

“It's just..."

Hrs. Jenkins shook her head and sighed again, “The Jenkins family has been declining over the past few years. We are all trying to revive our former glory. But who could have imagined that a family member would rather sell the formula of an elixir pill than share it with the family? How could she be such a selfish person and completely disregard her obligation to the Jenkins family?"
