Chapter: 1598
She wondered how on earth Maria had accomplished this feat.

"Step aside, you ungrateful rascal!" Michael said to Raymond as the latter approached him. He tapped Raymond with his cane.

Raymond felt profoundly uncomfortable and protested, “Dad, what are you talking about? I am your son! You should know that I've been diligently caring about you since you fell ill."

He then pointed at Anthony and continued, “It's Anthony who's been neglecting you. He only decided to visit you today."

A resounding thud followed as Michael's cane struck Raymond's forehead, eliciting a cry of pain.

“Had you not intentionally hidden my illness from Anthony, he wouldn't have visited me this late. Without Anthony bringing Maria along, I might have met my end by now," Michael declared firmly, his words carrying a weight of clarity and logic.

Then, he turned to Maria and said, “Maria, that pill you created, the Golden Pill, correct? It's genuinely a life-saving elixir. I'm at a loss for words to express my gratitude."

Maria had crafted the Three Swirling Golden Pill during the Pill Alchemist Association's examination. While it didn't precisely match Michael's ailment, it proved to be a life-saving remedy, nonetheless.

“Don't mention it," Maria replied, accompanied by a warm smile.

Anthony chimed in, “Michael, there's no need for such formality.

She's going to be a part of our family."

Maria was taken aback by Anthony's words.

My goodness, did Anthony have to abandon his usual cool and distant demeanor like this?

His cheesy lines made it somewhat challenging for her to meet his gaze directly.

However, these words had a positive impact, as they elicited hearty laughter from Michael.

Amid the laughter, Raymond and Marilyn experienced a sense of discomfort.

Raymond clenched his teeth and attempted to change the topic, asking, “Dr. Rivera, my father has only just regained consciousness. Is it imperative for him to undergo another comprehensive examination, especially after taking that pill without any prior consultation?"

Raymond had frequently heard of matters about the martial arts world but had seldom witnessed them firsthand.

This was because, over the past few decades, Michael had never groomed him as the heir to the family, leaving him without access to the martial arts knowledge the Wilson family possessed.

Marilyn paused for a moment and displayed an interest in Maria's medication.

She then smiled and advised, “We shouldn't underestimate Mr. Wilson's condition. I recommend intensifying medical surveillance from this point forward and performing more in-depth pathological analysis..."

Nevertheless, Michael waved his hand, cutting her off abruptly. He averted his gaze from her and directed his words at Raymond, “Did you invite her here? Pay her consultation fee promptly. We couldn't leave debts unpaid in our family."

Although he framed it as settling the consultation fee, it was, in fact, a tactful way of indicating her departure.

Marilyn's countenance soured slightly, but she recognized her inability to rouse Michael and the opportunity she had provided for Maria to stand out.
