Chapter: 1633
Known for his brilliant mind but not so much for his emotional skills, Ian faced Julie, a woman of few words.

They exchanged glances, both uncertain about how to resume their conversation.

Eventually, Julie broke the silence.

"So, Ian, what have you been up to lately?"

Adjusting his round glasses, Ian replied earnestly, “Well, I've been working on the hibernation pod technology. Also, I've started exploring ancient cultures."

He noticed Julie's confused look and elaborated, "By ancient cultures, I mean stuff like martial arts. Their medical and potion-making techniques are fascinating. I'm trying to blend these ancient practices with modern technology."

Julie nodded, understanding.

It made sense, considering Ian's connection with Sophie's research institute and Maria being his boss. It wasn't surprising he'd delve into the world of martial arts.

"Well, do you enjoy this line of work?" Julie asked, immediately feeling awkward about her small talk skills.

Socializing was never her strong suit, slightly better than Ian's, perhaps, but not by much.

Ian smiled slightly.

"Yes, I do enjoy it. It's something I need to do."

Ian's response was brief yet profound.

Julie found herself taken aback. She gazed at him, full of curiosity, eager for him to elaborate.

"My lifelong dream has always been to delve into medical research, ever since my college days. I truly enjoy my work."

Ian paused, then shared his reasons for remaining dedicated to his career.

"Since Maria requires the technique of hibernation and Maria is your daughter, I'm committed to this field."

Julie spent over ten seconds processing Ian's words, replaying them in her head.

The more she mulled over it, the more it seemed like a declaration of his feelings toward her.

She realized Ian was actually quite skilled at conversation.

But his deep thoughts often overshadowed his verbal expression, leading Julie to mistakenly think he wasn't good with words.

"Ian, I..."

Julie was at a loss for words.

She struggled to find a response, feeling an urgency to reciprocate his thoughtfulness.
