Chapter: 1641
Back then, Mrs. Jenkins never sought power or wealth and was kind to the family's younger members. She was an excellent manager of household affairs, keeping everything in order while the men handled external matters.
When the Jenkins family faced a crisis and most of the middle-aged elites were decimated, the former family master appointed Mrs. Jenkins as the temporary family's leader. This decision meant to aid the family's recovery and nurture the next generation, was fully supported by all family members.
"I've lived a long life. There's no use overthinking it." Canaan chuckled while shaking his head.
It seemed only the elderly would dwell on the past.
Today, Mrs. Jenkins stood as a major obstacle to the Jenkins family's progress. How could he still think fondly of her past?
Canaan felt a sense of helplessness wash over him.
He wondered, if Mr. Barnes performed surgery on Mrs. Jenkins, giving the latter another twenty years, would the Jenkins family end up ruined by her?
“Hi, grandpa." A clear voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts.
Canaan turned toward the sound and saw Maria.
Confused, he asked, “What did you just call me?"
"Grandpa," Maria said again.
"Well." Canaan stood there, shocked, before finally smiling and nodding.
Even though Maria was called back to the family from outside, she was indeed his grandchild.
"What's wrong?" Canaan asked kindly.
“What's bothering you? Come on, tell me. I'll do my best to help."
His mind drifted back to Mrs. Jenkins, who controlled the whole Jenkins family, and his mood soured again.
"Nothing," Maria replied, catching Canaan off guard.
"I just want to inform you that the Ancient Martial Arts Organ Transplant Methods aren't flawless. It has an age restriction. It's not advisable for people over sixty."
Canaan was taken aback, a hint of surprise crossing his features.
“What? Are you sure?"
Even Mr. Barnes seldom adopted the Ancient Martial Arts Organ Transplant Methods. Its secrets lurked in the shadows, far from public knowledge. Canaan had never heard of such a limitation and began to doubt Maria's words.
"Yes, I assure you," Maria said firmly.
Canaan found this hard to accept.
He would have been more convinced if Maria told him she had discovered this after becoming a member of the Pill Alchemist Association, or if Mr. Gregory had shared these secrets with her.
