Thinking Mrs. Jenkins was complimenting him, Roy puffed up with pride.

He glanced over at Maria, looking quite pleased with himself.

"Roy, this is your blind date, Miss Jenkins," Mr. Barnes said, pointing at Maria.

"Glad to meet you," Roy said in earnest, gazing at Maria.

A proud smile lit up Roy's face as he was finally able to focus his attention on Maria.

For a moment, he couldn't take his eyes off her. She was so stunning.

Roy couldn't believe he was going on a date with such a beautiful woman. After looking at Maria for a moment, Roy frowned because he had the strange feeling that he had seen Maria somewhere before.

Roy had been abroad during the previous two years. It was only after he had wasted all his money that he finally returned home.

His father, Fred, wouldn't give him more pocket money, so Roy had no choice but to work in a commercial bank to keep up with his lifestyle. The bank didn't dare to assign work to Roy because the Barnes family was powerful. They gave Roy a whopping twenty thousand dollars a month as salary.

Recently, Maria had risen to fame and her popularity had been consistently growing. Almost all young people knew her now.

However, Roy was not one of them. He was more familiar with bars, casinos, and card tables, so he had no idea who Maria was.

The reason he felt he had seen Maria elsewhere was that Maria strongly resembled one of the characters in the commercial for the film Female Military Counsellor.

“Miss Jenkins, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Roy Barnes, and I'm from the Barnes family in Broome."

After saying that, Roy held his head high.

ALL Roy had to do was say that he was from the Barnes family in Broome and the girls in the bars he frequented would go crazy and start to fawn on him. Roy was convinced that Maria wasn't much different from those girls.

However, those girls in the clubs and bars immediately concluded that he had a strong family background as soon as they heard the words “family in Broome".

Maria nodded and said calmly, “My name is Maria Jenkins. I came from the Jenkins family in Broome."
