Chapter: 218
“I need to take a nap. Just mind your own business, Vivian. It's not that hard to do it."
Julie implicated that she wanted Vivian to behave and stop making trouble for Maria.
Julie felt exhausted both physically and mentally. Back to the empty master bedroom, Julie fell on the gorgeous bed, flat on her back.
Her mind was a mess right now. She remembered that the room underneath the master bedroom used to be a storage area. But now, it was being occupied by Maria.
Then, she thought of her husband. Recently, Bill had been busy with various social engagements, not even spending the night at their home. He would her call, but every time he did, it would only be for a few words to tell her that he was busy and that he wouldn't be home for the night.
Julie knew that her husband was with Patricia.
Just like Vivian said, Patricia got her the chance to attend the training program with the help of a senior manager from the Film and Television Association.
But since courtesy demanded reciprocity, Bill knew that he should thank this manager properly for the help he provided.
Julie didn't like this kind of social contact and didn't want to go with Bill. In the end, it was Patricia who accompanied him to those meetings.
Laying on the bed, Julie thought how the Jenkins family owed Maria a debt.
When this idea flashed through Julie's mind, she found it quite ridiculous.
It had only been a short time since Maria moved in and Lived with them, but why did she felt like they owed her something? It was as if she was guilty that they weren't providing her with enough.
After a while, Julie sat on the bed with a serious expression.
She then opened the drawer beside the bed and looked for something. Finally, she found what she was Looking for and picked up a credit card.
The card contained one hundred thousand dollars, which she actually prepared for Vivian as her allowance. But then she remembered that Bill had already given Vivian a Lot of money. She would not be short of money even if Julie didn't give her more. In the end, Julie considered giving the money to Maria, so that she could have some during they were away for the training program. Maria came from a small town, and shouldn't have a lot of savings. Even if she had a decent job now, as her new parents, they should at Least provide for her just as they were doing for Vivian. Besides, she was the daughter of the Jenkins family now. It would not be a good image for both her and her family if people thought that they were short of money.
Making up her mind, Julie walked out of the room with the credit card in her hand.
She believed that by giving the money to Maria, it could at least ease the inexplicable guilt in her heart.
Julie knocked on the door of Maria's room, and a few seconds later, the latter opened it expressionlessly.
Seeing her, Maria just nodded slowly but didn't address her as her mom.
“What's up?" Maria asked, slightly tilting her head.
