Chapter: 368
Maria trailed and tilted her head, waiting for him to keep
“You can't live with the Jenkins anymore. Henceforth, you will officially move here. Of course, we'll tell the public that we have decided to live together before getting married." Anthony's tone was firm, as though she had no say in it.
Maria blinked several times in astonishment. "But I thought we had an agreement..."
She didn't even know how to say what she wanted to say. They had agreed to respect their engagement, but they wouldn't Live together, and they wouldn't have any intimate contact.
So, she was really confused and surprised by Anthony's suggestion.
“Your sleepwalking is caused by narcolepsy. Who do you think will take care of you in the Jenkins house when you are sleepwalking, say in the middle of the night?"
Maria was quiet. Not because she didn't want to speak her mind, but because she didn't know what to say.
Indeed, who was going to take care of her? She tried running all of them in her minds eye, but not a single caring person came stood out.
If one day, Maria sleepwalked to the balcony on the second floor and unconsciously fell down, instead of calling for an ambulance immediately, the members of the Jenkins family would probably laugh first. As she imagined this scene she knew what to do.
"And what about you? Can you take care of me?" Maria looked up at Anthony and asked in a soft voice.
The truth was that Anthony was a very busy man. Would there be a difference if she came to Live here? Would he really have the time to take care of her?
Anthony's face was emotionless as he stared at Maria without saying anything.
Feeling some sort of tension in the atmosphere, Jack immediately answered for his boss, "Of course, Miss Jenkins. Mr. Wilson will take very good care of you."
Maria looked from Jack to Anthony and back again in confusion.
Anthony would take very good care of her?
Why did Jack say it as though there was something she didn't know that she ought to.
Now was not the moment to analyse Jack's words, so she looked at
Anthony and said, "Thank you, sincerely. But I don't want to cause you any trou..."
"Trouble?" Anthony cut her off and completed it for her. "You won't cause me any inconvenience. It just means one more person in my house. But if you have a better solution, do tell me. If not, you'd better Listen to me," he added in a not so gentle tone.
He had to be firm on this issue if he wanted things to go his way.
