Chapter: 381
Vivian deliberately Looked at Maria with a smug look on her face, as if she was trying to taunt her.
“Have you ever heard of Novel Hub, Maria? I guess not. Well, it is the biggest online literary platform in our country. Today, there is a banquet for the cooperation and communicating of online literature. As an invited guest, Aunt Patricia will take me along with her. No hard feelings, okay?"
ALL Vivian had in mind was showing off in front of Maria and making her feel less important. She was so conceited that she didn't realize she was hurting her own mother, Julie.
Julie gulped and her face darkened as she realized that her daughter would never realize the pain she was causing her.
Julie was a housewife who rarely went out, unlike Patricia who had so many social contacts and occasions to attend.
Julie understood that they could have a relationship since they were in the same world. But the more Vivian relied on Patricia and even flaunted her, the more upset and hurt Julie felt.
Parents were normally supposed to lead their children by example, and their children in return had to be proud of them, but whenever Vivian spoke of the motherly figure in her life proudly, she was always referring to Patricia. After going through this frequently, Julie was used to it, but she was still hurt.
“That's nice,"
Maria answered indifferently and flicked her hand carelessly. It was quite normal for Novel Hub to hold an event.
Vivian said it as though it was an accomplishment.
As the best in the domestic online literature field, Novel Hub held lots of events all year round.
Greta, the editor in chief of Novel Hub had invited Maria to their previous events before, but she had always declined. She had no interest in it and didn't want to participate.
Greta thought that either Maria didn't Like showing up in public or she just didn’t want to expose her true identity as Mia, so she didn't insist. After all, Mia's absence at the event wasn't going to change her status. She would remain top rank of Novel Hub no matter what.
“Maria? Tell me, do you want to go to the event? I would have been willing to move with you this time, but unfortunately, VIP seats have already been taken. I'll remember to ask next time, okay? Maybe they will allow family members to get in,“ Vivian continued with a provocative smile.
She wanted Maria to beg her to attend the online literary event held by Novel Hub. The thought alone gave her inexplicable joy.
Vivian was so happy as she thought of this. She liked having the upper hand on Maria.
Suddenly, Maria's phone rang.
Of course, she ignored Vivian and checked her phone. It was a message from Greta that read, "Mia, would you mind making an exception this time and attending the Novel Hub's event? There is a part in the event that has been reserved for your new work, Female Military Counsellor."
At the end of the message, she added a series of pitiful emojis. Maria could actually imagine Greta pinning her fingers and waiting for an answer.
"Okay!" Maria typed the reply and pressed send.
