Chapter: 525
Even if she only inherited a third of Julie's beauty... In fact, even one-fourth was more than enough. If only the baby was able to live, she would have definitely grown up into a fine woman with unmatched charm.
“My daughter's body... I was in a coma after the surgery, so it was Bill who took care of the documents. The hospital assured me that they followed proper procedures, confirming that there had been no problems."
Because of the type of surgery performed on her, the baby's life basically ended in the Julie's womb.
Then, to prevent the spread of bacteria and infectious diseases, hospitals would usually burn the remains of the fetus.
Later on, Bill said that in order to help Julie move on faster, he got rid of any information related to the child.
“Our daughter has become an angel back to heaven.”
This was Bill trying to comfort her, but it didn't work one bit.
Seeing that Julie was still deeply saddened, he suddenly decided to adopt a baby girl and named her Vivian. He said that they would regard the baby as if she was their own flesh and blood.
From then on, Julie no Longer mentioned her poor daughter that passed away too young.
"Well, maybe I'm just overthinking things too much," Mathias remarked with hints of resignation in his voice.
He was an old man who had experienced many vicissitudes in life and had seen all kinds of people and things.
Therefore, he couldn't help but think that such a seemingly unreasonable speculation might actually be possible.
He murmured, "You now have two adopted daughters. I've seen Vivian in photos, and I already met Maria in person. To tell you the truth, I was really hoping that one of them has been you own flesh and blood."
Julie instantly looked at her father, surprised that he would say something like this.
After coughing a couple times, Mathias added, “To be more honest... I was hoping that Maria has been your real daughter. Did you see her eyes? They are just as bright as yours! And her stubbornness... Ha-ha! It's just like mine. If my granddaughter had survived, I can imagine that she must have turned out exactly Like Maria."
“You. You think so?”
Julie almost stammered, deeply moved by her father's statements.
Back then, Mathias had strongly expressed his dissatisfaction when his daughter got pregnant outside of marriage. But now, he was showing an unlikely affection toward her daughter and the granddaughter he almost had.
Julie felt the love that she had been longing for such a long time. Being reconciled with her family seemed like a fleeting wish, but she finally achieved it. All the pain and hurt that happened between them were eased all at once.
However, something else then came to her mind that greatly bothered her. People always said that men would tend to speak kindly in their dying moments. Just like how birds would cry plaintively before they had to leave this world.
