“I don't care about that,” Maris snapped again

“Maria, what's wrong? You don't like that I'm getting divorced?" Julie pulled a long face, trying to make herself Look dignified.

Maria inhaled as if her patience was being tested and shook her head.

“Bill is not a good man. I don't mind if you want to end your marriage with him. But you're the one suffering here, so why are you allowing him to act like the victim when he is the one who betrayed this marriage? And you're even going to give him a compensation for the divorce. That's just ridiculous!"

This was the Last thing Julie had expected to hear from Maria. She was surprised that Maria's annoyance at her wasn't because she cared about Bill, but because she was worried about Julie.

After all, Bill was still Maria's adoptive father. Why didn't she take him seriously?

Maria called Julie "Mom," but she had never given Bill the privilege of being called "Dad."

Julie had no idea what she had done to deserve this special treatment from Maria.

In the few months of fostering Maria as their daughter, Julie didn't think that she had cared for Maria any better than her husband did.

Smiling meaningfully, Anthony pointed out, "Actually, I don't think you'll have to worry about whether you need to compensate your husband after the divorce. I bet that Mr. Jenkins won't agree to this divorce in the first place. No matter how much compensation you offer, he will try his best to make you stay.”

With a peaceful divorce and ample compensation from Julie, Bill would be able to live together with Patricia aboveboard from now.

Why would he forgo such an option to stay with Julie instead?
