Chapter: 629
How could a man who spent his family fortune on another woman be innocent?
Julie knew she should be mad at Bill for lying so shamelessly, but she felt as if all her anger had already drained out of her.
In a soft, strained voice, she asked, “Since you admit it, how can you still say you're innocent? I'm willing to give you an amicable divorce and let you and Patricia be together. Isn't that enough?"
Bill sighed, and his lips curved up into a bitter smile.
“Julie, why can't you understand? Yes, I invested in Patricia's company. But is it because I'm having an affair with her? No!"
He pointed at Vivian, who was still in Julie's arms, with a solemn expression.
“As a father, I simply did everything I could to secure my daughter's future!"
Bill had done everything for Vivian?
Julie looked at her daughter thoughtfully.
“Julie, you already know that both Patricia's film company and novel website were set up to support Vivian," Bill explained.
“You also know that even though I've been doing business all these years, I don't have any connections in the entertainment industry." Julie nodded slowly.
“So...”
Bill waved his hand, as if he felt frustrated to have to admit that he couldn't support his daughter on his own.
"I gave the money to Patricia in return for her connections and resources in the entertainment industry. I used her to make our daughter famous! Haven't you seen that both the film company and the novel website treat Vivian as their most important member?"
“Well... You really did it all for Vivian?"
Julie's determination to get a divorce slowly melted away.
Today, she had announced that she wanted a divorce without any warning. Logically speaking, Bill could not have prepared in advance for it.
He could not have spontaneously came up with a lie to persuade Julie. Then, did it mean that he was telling the truth?
He had done everything... for Vivian's sake?
Julie couldn't help but glance at Maria and then at Vivian.
Of course.
Bill would never think of Maria as his own daughter, but when it came to Vivian, who he had raised since she was a baby, things were different.
He really thought of Vivian as his own flesh and blood!
Therefore, it was reasonable for him to want to pave the way for a good future for her at all costs.
