Chapter: 728
The kind of berries that grow in the island only had a slight difference in taste when ripe and when still unripe. But the result of eating them at those two different stages were totally drastic.
Eating a moderate amount of ripe wild berries could be a good source of important vitamins and other nutrients.
However, just eating two or three unripe wild berries were enough to cause vomiting, diarrhea, and other unpleasant symptoms in mere seconds.
In their small wooden house, there was a basket made by Judy, which was specifically used for storing berries they picked up.
It was actually Judy who was responsible for the collection of the wild berries because on the first day they arrived on the island, the two guys found that she could skillfully identify and pick eatable potherbs and wild fruits, which was something they couldn't.
At the same time, Judy once reminded them about the danger of consuming unripe berries. Remembering this well, Louis secretly collected some of these unripe berries.
He was so careful and subtle that even the camera wasn't able to catch his actions.
Louis acted like he was just walking leisurely through the woods. But after returning to the camp, he quickly put these unripe berries on top of the ripe ones in the basket.
He knew that Sean had a habit of eating fruits after having their ‘Lunch.
So, he waited quietly and patiently for Sean to take some of the berries from the basket.
Sure enough, Sean went inside the house after finishing his Lunch. Louis was delighted, not expecting that this would happen so soon.
Sean took a few berries from the basket and walked out of the wooden house.
He was in a good mood because Louis seemed to have behaved himself these past two days. In fact, Louis even took the initiative to clean the house for the first time.
Sean thought that as long as their group maintained this kind of harmonious state, their chance of winning the competition would grow bigger.
“What? Would you Like to have some berries as well? These are freshly collected by Judy yesterday."
When Sean was about to eat the berries, he saw Louis staring at his hand. So, he thought that the latter might also want to have some.
In fact, the look in Louis' eyes said that he desperately wanted to take a bite.
Although Judy was the only one who collected them, she made it clear that she wanted to share them with everyone.
“Thank you. Yes please, I'll have some.” It was rare for Louis to smile and speak so politely. Therefore, Sean was more satisfied. If they could stay like this every day, it would be for the best.
Then, he gave two berries to Louis and ate the rest in his hand. However, Sean's brows soon wrinkled. He found it a bit strange. The fruits he got from the basket didn't seem to be as sweet as usual. After thinking for a few seconds, Sean's eyes widened.
He was now sure at what was going on.
As if something hot came from within his stomach, he held a nearby tree's trunk and vomited. Immediately after, he also saw Louis vomiting not far away from him.
Sean felt very guilty. It seemed that the wild berries he shared with Louis were unripe.
“I'm sorry, Louis. It's my fault..."
