Chapter: 971
“How dare you! Don't be so impolite to Miss Jenkins!" Jack saw how Colin was reaching for Maria. Despite his grave injury, he yelled fiercely at Colin and hit him in the chest.

Colin barely had time to react. The next thing he knew, he was thrown several meters away, and landed on the ground with a heavy thud. Perhaps it was because he had used too much force, but Jack instantly had a coughing fit.

This time, however, he didn't spit out any blood. It seemed to be just an ordinary dry cough.

“Are you okay, Jack?" Betsey asked nervously

“I... Yes, I think I am fine."

Jack narrowed his eyes suspiciously at Betsey, and then at Maria.

He could tell that his injury had somehow gotten better. Was it because of the pellet that Maria had given him? If so, its effects were far more potent than Jack's valiant efforts at breathing and meditation.

“Don't worry; you are not going to die,“ Maria said with a smile. "Once we get home Later, I will teach you a bit of karate. It will help you gain more strength and enable you to protect yourself."

Karate?

Gain more strength?

Most of the people in attendance practiced martial arts.

To them, karate was just another sort of exercise! What use would it be to Jack, who had been practicing ancient martial arts for most of his life? He might as well take the time and run more Laps if he wanted to build his strength.

Betsey thought the same. "Jack," she said anxiously. "You still have some credit points, right? Do you think you can use it to exchange for some grade two pills? If it's not enough, you can use my credit points as well!"

A prominent family Like the Wilson family, who had enough power to employ ancient martial arts practitioners as bodyguards, naturally had a unique background that not many could comprehend.

Within their clan, there was such a thing as credit points, which was used as currency to barter for resources in any shape or form.

They also possessed rare medicinal pills. These were divided into nine categories, with the grade one being the lowest.

A grade two pill might not sound much, but out in the black market, a single piece could easily fetch five million!

Even so, grade two pills lacked the properties needed to repair the damaged energy of a human body.

When Betsey saw how Jack had knocked Colin away with a single slap just now, she figured that maybe he wasn't that seriously injured after all. Perhaps grade two pills were enough to help Jack

"I... I don't think I need grade two pills." Jack scratched his head awkwardly, his expression sheepish.

When he had been beaten by Colin, he had certainly felt his energy break apart.

But now, it was thrumming perfectly fine throughout his body. Of course, his bruises and injuries were still there, but they were well within the range of rapid recovery.

Jack was not an idiot. He stood in a daze as he pondered his predicament before turning to stare at Maria.

So was it Maria...
