Chapter: 1886
However, watching her parents enjoy Lance's company made her heart sink.
After lunch, Amirah suggested Bettie show Lance to a room upstairs for some rest, hinting they should have some time alone.
Leading Lance to the second floor, Bettie opened a guest room door and said, "This is your room for rest."
Lance took hold of Bettie's wrist. “Come with me. I've got something to tell you."
“What's going on?" Bettie walked with him into the guest room.
After closing the door, Lance said, "I've decided not to bring up the wedding with them today. I will mention it another time."
"Even if we don't discuss it today, I doubt they'll be on board with us tying the knot next month. Have you figured out how we're going to convince them?" Bettie raised an eyebrow.
"It's quite simple."
“Really?”
Lance stepped closer with a grin, leaned in, and whispered something to Bettie.
Bettie's cheeks turned pink, and she snapped, “I am not pregnant! I won't agree with that."
"Are you sure?"
"One hundred percent. If you even suggest that, I'll immediately get laid with others and make you be mocked as being cuckolded," Bettie sneered.
“Alright. I'll come up with a different plan. If I can convince your mom first, your dad will probably come around." Lance shrugged.
“As for my mom, leave her to me. You just need to come up with a solid reason for my dad to agree."
"Got it."
After Lance had gone, Corless turned to Bettie and remarked, "I think Lance really likes you, and he seems quite smitten. It'd be wise to not let him slip away."
"I don't need your advice on that," Bettie retorted.
Corless found himself at a loss for words. "Regardless, my love for you won't change."
Noticing the annoyance on Bettie's face, Corless gestured dismissively. "Spend time with your mother. I've got to head to the office."
