Chapter: 1897
“Understood. Wiping her eyes, Keilani nodded vigorously. “Jennie has to be okay."
Tyrone remained silent and took a seat to wait.
Roughly thirty minutes later, the operating room's red light switched to green. A nurse wheeled Jennie out, now connected to an IV drip.
A bandage wrapped around her head only left her face visible. “Are you her parents? She's no longer in danger, but she's suffered quite a bit and needs plenty of rest."
A wave of relief washed over Keilani. "Thank heavens!"
Jennie was then taken to her ward.
Seeing Jennie's usually vibrant face now pale and tired, Tyrone felt a deep sadness and asked, “May I know when will she wake up?"
The nurse replied, “She should wake up in about thirty minutes to an hour. If she experiences severe pain upon waking, you can administer the painkiller. She shouldn't eat until four hours post-surgery. Start with liquids to ensure she can easily digest her food."
"Alright." Tyrone moved a chair closer to the bed and took a seat.
Keilani found a spot on another chair nearby.
Together, they kept their eyes on Jennie.
The room was in silence for a stretch of time.
Suddenly, a ringtone shattered the quiet atmosphere.
Instinctively, Keilani's grip tightened, and she cast a worried look toward the sound.
Tyrone made his way to the window before answering the call, “What's going on?"
Keilani felt a knot form in her stomach, her fingers crumpling the fabric of her dress.
"I understand. I'll have my assistant get in touch with you later."
After ending the call, Tyrone slipped his phone back into his pocket.
"Was that the police?" Keilani asked, a wave of relief washing over her.
Tyrone gave a nod. "Yes. They've reviewed the surveillance footage and found the car's license plate number."
