Chapter: 1908
The leading officer quickly divided the work amongst his men. One car was sent to track down Kody and his men, while the other car went back to the police station to report the situation.
Bettie went to the police station in Lance's car. She closed her eyes, rested her head against the headrest and tried to calm down.
Lance drove slowly and tried not to disturb her.
When she was calmer, Bettie gritted her teeth and said, "This is the first time I've been kidnapped. I have no idea about the mastermind. If I ever find out who did it, I'll make sure they pay for their crime!"
Bettie was not stupid. Kody and his men kidnapped her and brought her to this abandoned building. They didn't demand anything, not even money, and only wanted to rape her. Evidently, someone had paid them to do so.
As Lance opened his mouth to speak, Bettie's eyes flickered to him with a curious expression, and she asked, "How did you find out that I was kidnapped and chased here?"
It was evident that Lance didn't learn about the situation from the police based on the nature of the questions they asked him earlier.
"Sabrina reminded me," Lance replied.
"Lance."
"What?"
"You're not wearing glasses." Bettie looked Lance up and down carefully and suddenly put her finger on what looked so different about him. She realized there was a huge contrast between him with and without glasses.
She was used to how he looked with glasses, and she couldn't help but feel a twinge of unfamiliarity as she regarded him now without it. Without glasses, his eyebrows appeared more pronounced and added a somewhat sharp and aggressive look to his countenance.
"Yes." When leaving, Lance picked up his glasses, only to discover the impact of the car had shattered them.
“Are you sure you can drive? What if you hit someone?" Bettie asked.
“Don't worry. I'll cover any damages."
Bettie blinked at Lance, speechless. "Please drive slowly. But how did Sabrina know something happened to me?"
"I'm not sure," Lance replied with a shake of his head. "Maybe she caught wind of it from somewhere. You just asked me how I found this place, right?"
"Yes."
“Sabrina mentioned it might have something to do with Keilani, so I had someone hack into Keilani's phone to trace her recent contacts. That's how I managed to locate this place."
Bettie's eyebrows shot up in astonishment, her features contorted with a potent mix of shock and fury as she gritted her teeth. "So, in other words, it was Keilani who instigated those men to harm me, wasn't it?"
