Chapter: 1922
In Royce's office.
Royce didn't share his thoughts on Lance's choice and simply inquired, “Does your dad approve of this?"
"So what if he doesn't? He won't come all the way here just to stop you from doing so." Lance relaxed on the couch, leaning back with a serene look. "After her release, I will send her back to Philade."
“You're making me a middleman, right?" Royce gave a resigned smile and observed Lance curiously. “Is this about Miss Ramirez? Is that why you're upset?"
At the police station before, Royce noticed Lance's unusual concern for Bettie.
Lance acknowledged this and commented, "Keilani needs a lesson."
Keilani knew her actions were wrong. Yet, she still acted recklessly, counting on Royce's influence. She wouldn't realize the severity unless she faced the consequences.
Previously, when Keilani was reckless and did something wrong, Lance would just reprimand her, resolve the issue, and make amends.
Had Keilani targeted someone else, Lance's reaction might have been less intense. But she crossed the line by targeting Bettie. That hit a nerve for him.
Royce sighed and said, “She's an adult. Changing her nature won't be easy. With the ongoing issues between Miss Ramirez and Keilani, you might face more troubles ahead."
Back when Lance got lost as a child, Zandra and her husband poured all their affection into their daughter, Keilani, pampering her excessively until she became arrogant and indifferent to limits.
Once Lance was found back, Zandra did her best to reconnect with him, yet she and her husband still showed a preference for Keilani, who had always been by her side.
Royce observed how Zandra's husband, Lance's father, interacted with Lance. Whenever he talked, it was always about business, his tone cold and distant, lacking any warmth. He saw Lance more as a successor than a son.
Lance revealed, “Bettie still doesn't know who I really am. If we get married, we certainly won't be living with my parents."
"If? Still unsure if she'll marry you?" Royce joked.
“Not yet, but I believe it'll happen soon."
“Why do you think that?" Royce, intrigued by Lance's confidence, inquired.
Lance shared his plan.
Royce burst into laughter, playfully gesturing at Lance. “You're quite cunning."
"It's not being cunning. It's called strategy. I'll need Tylor's help to put on a show when the time comes." Lance smiled.
