Chapter: 1921
"I... I just wanted to eliminate the baby Sabrina was carrying...”
Keilani paused, looking at Lance before continuing, “But she was always protected by two bodyguards. I never got the chance. So, I thought of leveraging Bettie to pressure Sabrina. Fearing Sabrina might turn to Tyrone for help, I used Jennie to distract Tyrone."
"Is that all?"
"Yes." Keilani nodded, her gaze fixed on Lance with a hopeful look.
“Lance, I've told you everything. Can I leave now?"
"When did I ever say I'd let you go just because you confessed?"
Keilani's eyes widened in disbelief and grievance as she protested, “Why? Sabrina and Bettie are okay, aren't they? Why can't I leave this place? I really don't want to be here anymore."
Lance stood up abruptly, his stare icy as he faced Keilani. "Bettie is only okay because I got there in time. Without me, those three jerks would've bullied her."
Keilani whispered, "It's not like I told them to do that..."
Seeing her lack of remorse, Lance scoffed. "Is that so? Those three jerks admitted that you told them to go after Bettie and mistreat her once they got her."
Keilani felt her heart stop, panic setting in. "No, that's not true. I didn't tell them to do any of that! They're lying! Lance, please! You've got to believe me!"
Lance shot Keilani one last icy look, turned away without a word, and walked out.
“Hey, Lance, you have to believe me..." Keilani's voice trailed off as Lance continued to walk away without turning back.
The door shut behind him.
Left alone, Keilani's hope drained away, leaving her to slump into her chair, overwhelmed by despair.
Initially, Lance planned to hold Keilani in the police station for five days. However, their conversation led him to a different decision.
Lance questioned a young police officer, “What's the longest someone can be detained?"
The officer answered, "Thirty-seven days."
"Please keep Keilani for the entire period," Lance instructed.
"Really?" the officer asked, shocked.
