Chapter: 1949
"Keilani, relax." Rita tried to soothe Keilani by using a soft tone as she spoke.
"Get lost!" Keilani said bluntly, "Quit pretending to be a saint. It's nauseating.”
"Keilani..."
“I don't want to talk to you. Are you going to leave now or what?"
Keilani snapped.
Rita was rendered speechless momentarily.
"I heard things weren't smooth between you and Sabrina. Allow me to apologize on her behalf. Sabrina can be clueless sometimes. I fail to discipline her. If I'm not wanted, it's no biggie. I won't bug you again. That's my piece." With that, Rita stood to depart.
Keilani froze and smirked. "How noble. If you think Sabrina's wrong, make her apologize to my face."
Keilani scoffed. So, this woman was Sabrina's mother, not Bettie's.
It didn't matter, anyway. To her, neither of them were any good.
Rita feigned a disheartened look and said, "Sabrina wasn't around my side when she was a child. She doesn't heed my words since she's grown up. You wouldn't believe it, but over some silly fight, she almost went too far with her cousin."
Hearing this, Keilani's hostility toward Rita eased a bit. "Well, you seem alright, dealing with a daughter like that. Since you admit Sabrina owes me, just figure out how to get me out of here.”
“That That might not be up to me." Rita sighed.
Keilani's face fell. "I knew it! You must take your daughter's side. Are we finished here? If so, beat it."
Rita kept on, "I just found out Jennie is your kid with Tyrone. What a picture-perfect family. I met Jennie before. She's smart and sweet. I imagine you three together would be a happy, peaceful home."
"Why even bring this up? Look at where I am now! I can't lay eyes on Jennie, let alone Tyrone. It's all thanks to your precious daughter, isn't it?" Keilani's eyes flashed with spite.
"You're Royce's niece, the Wilson family pride, with Tyrone's child."
Sabrina's just an illegitimate kid. How could she ever match up to Tyrone? They're always on and off, a lost cause. But don't fret.
"I'll find a way to put her in her place. You won't have to deal with her again. Least I can do as her mom, hoping she'll wise up."
Rita sounded gentle, her words carefully chosen to belittle Sabrina.
