Chapter: 1955
With the child gone, she could focus on healing and getting her life back on track.
Yet, the emptiness left by the lost expectation was difficult to handle.
Upon hearing Wendell's words, Shirley attempted to speak but remained silent.
Wendell, driven by concern, pressed further, “Tell me! Who is the child's father?"
Wendell couldn't understand why his daughter had to endure so much pain alone while the father seemed unaffected, living his life as usual.
Shirley softly shook her head, barely audible. "I don't know."
“Even now, you're keeping secrets from me," Wendell remarked, frustration evident in his voice.
"I... I really don't know.." she insisted.
"You're still covering for him," he accused.
Shirley found herself at a loss for words. She genuinely didn't know.
And even if she did, she believed the blame was hers to bear. She exchanged the opportunity to inform the police for money.
Sabrina gathered from Shirley's and Wendell's faces that Shirley's situation might be sensitive and not for strangers' ears.
Yet, since Shirley assured it was nothing grave, Sabrina wasn't troubled.
Sabrina and Jennie took a stroll outside and then went back to the hospital. Sabrina departed when Karen arrived to stay overnight for Jennie's care.
After Jennie had her stitches taken out, she hurried to the bathroom.
Sabrina happened to visit and followed Jennie inside, only to find Jennie on a stool by the sink, examining her reflection.
Gently touching her forehead, now dotted with iodine, Jennie asked, “Sabrina, do you think this will scar?"
"Absolutely not," Sabrina reassured, leaning in to check the wound.
"The cut's really superficial. It'll vanish in no time. And if by chance it doesn't, a fringe could easily hide it without diminishing your charm."
“I feel Like getting my hair cut now."
