Chapter: 2000
Tyrone muted his phone and slipped it back into his pocket. Then, he discreetly scanned the area, finally spotting a car parked by the roadside.
The dinner was dull and wrapped up quickly. The group left the restaurant, exchanging brief farewells.
The car was still there, tucked under a tree, seemingly empty.
On the drive back to the hotel, although Sabrina was visibly exhausted and dozing off, Tyrone noticed in the rearview mirror that a car had been tailing them the whole time, the same one he had seen outside the restaurant.
Upon reaching the hotel, Tyrone intended to carry Sabrina upstairs, but to his surprise, Sabrina woke up the moment he touched her.
Sabrina yawned and returned to her room. She headed to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth when Tyrone said, "You head to bed first. I need to step out for a bit."
"Okay," Sabrina replied. She figured someone must have called Tyrone about business during dinner, prompting him to handle it.
Tyrone exited the hotel and spotted the car by the roadside, quickly walking toward it.
Just a few steps away, the car door swung open from the inside, and Kira stepped out.
Tyrone gazed at Kira, his expression a mix of confusion, frustration, and irritation. "What the hell are you trying to do?"
"What am I trying to do? You really don't know?" Kira scoffed and, in a sudden burst of anger, slapped Tyrone across the face.
The slap echoed sharply as Kira shouted, “Are you even my son? How could you betray me like this?"
Tyrone had driven Kira out of the country, banning her from returning.
Now, in Kira's book, he was practically treating Rita as if she were his mother-in-law for the sake of Sabrina.
If Kira had known this earlier, she never would have had given birth to Tyrone.
Tyrone tilted his head, strands of hair falling over his eyes, shading them from view.
Before Tyrone could even say a word, Kira, fuming like a storm about to break, shot him a look that could kill and screamed, "You're a traitor! I should have choked you when I had the chance, then I wouldn't be stuck alone in a foreign land, miserable for half my life!"
A few days back, Kira secretly had found out that Horace had traveled to Philade of Dracwynne on business. She rushed over, wearing the dress that held sentimental value for them and makeup that made her look like she was trying too hard. She hoped for a coincidental meeting, to maybe catch his eye just like she used to.
However, upon tracking Horace down to a restaurant, Kira saw him dining with Rita and gently offering the latter a slice of steak, the kind of casual affection that stung Kira's heart. That was when her smile fractured.
In the days that followed, Kira kept her distance, following Horace and Rita from afar. She saw Horace taking Rita shopping, spoiling Rita with gifts. It hurt. It hurt a lot. But she couldn't look away.
