Chapter: 2016
Horace felt an urge to blame her for showing up unexpectedly while he was secretly meeting an old lover.
Rita waved her phone innocently. "I asked Sabrina to go shopping with me, but she hasn't arrived yet. I saw you through the window and thought I'd say hi... Is this your client?"
Kira looked at Rita with a smug, challenging expression. "I am..." she began, but Horace interrupted her. "Yes, this is Ms. Blakely, a client from the branch company."
Kira was left speechless, silenced by Horace's sudden shift.
Horace shot Kira a warning glance, and Kira lowered her head, saying nothing.
Rita smiled. “Well, then I won't get in the way."
“Okay", Horace replied.
Before leaving, Rita suddenly stood on tiptoe and kissed Horace on the cheek. "Good morning, honey," she said cheerfully.
Kira stiffened at the sight, her face twisting with a mix of shock and anger.
Rita raised her eyebrows, shot Kira a meaningful look, and walked away elegantly in her high heels.
That glance left Kira with the uneasy feeling that Rita might know about her recent conversation with Horace.
But Kira soon dismissed this thought. Rita's current position in the Fowler family depended entirely on Horace. If Rita were aware of any potential divorce, she wouldn't have left so calmly.
Watching Rita leave the cafe, Kira turned to Horace and asked, "Take a seat. Why stand here?"
Horace shook his head and said, "I've got to handle some other business, so I need to leave now." Rita had mentioned going shopping with Sabrina. If Sabrina saw him with Kira, it would be awkward for everyone.
"You just promised to stay with me..."
“can we do this another time? You head back first." With that, Horace turned and walked away.
Kira was left speechless. She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth in frustration. Damn that Rita and Sabrina!
Suddenly, Kira had a realization. As long as Tyrone had feelings for Sabrina, Horace, Tyrone's biological father, wouldn't take any drastic steps against Rita so as to keep peace with Sabrina. However, she was Tyrone's biological mother. If Horace wanted Tyrone's approval, he should reconcile with her. So why did he seem to favor Sabrina and Rita instead?
Kira assumed it was because Tyrone hadn't backed her attempts to reconcile with Horace, and their arguments over Sabrina had only made their relationship more strained. Worse, Sabrina held a significant place in Horace's considerations since she was deeply valued by Tyrone.
Kira seethed with fury. It was all Sabrina's fault! If she were with Horace, she could offer Tyrone a stable family and even business support from the Fowler family. Why couldn't Tyrone see that? It must be all because of Sabrina! Sabrina's words alienated Tyrone from her!
