Chapter: 2018
"Stay in Philade a few more days. Your dad will be there to pick you up soon."
“A few more days! Sabrina, can't you stay longer?" Jennie responded, visibly upset.
Kaleb, standing beside Jennie, overheard their conversation. He leaned over to Jennie and whispered, “Sabrina has responsibilities she needs to take care of."
Upon hearing Kaleb's words, Sabrina nearly chuckled, finding it amusing that he seemed to be guarding her, fearing she might take Jennie away. “I have duties to return to. As you mentioned, your grandparents are very kind to you. Why not spend a few more days with them?"
Sabrina was willing to spend time with Jennie, but she couldn't alter the arrangements made between Tyrone and Kaleb.
“Fine. It's such a shame that I can't make it to Bettie's wedding. Sabrina, please convey my best wishes to Bettie."
“Of course..."
"Bang!" Suddenly, Sabrina's voice was cut off by a loud noise!
Jennie was startled. "Sabrina! Sabrina, what's happening?"
The phone line was still on, and Jennie could hear rustling and background noise, but no reply from Sabrina came.
“Sabrina? Grandpa, could Sabrina have been in a car incident?"
Knowing Sabrina was on her way to the airport, Jennie grabbed Kaleb's arm, her voice laced with concern, saying, "Grandpa, what should we do? I'm so worried about her!"
Kaleb reassured her, “Jennie, try not to worry."
He then instructed Allen to investigate what had transpired.
About ten minutes later, Sabrina's voice returned weakly through the phone, saying, "Jennie? Are you still there?"
“Sabrina! Sabrina, are you alright? I was so worried!" Jennie exclaimed, relieved yet surprised.
"It's okay. Just a minor accident. I'm on my way to the hospital now. Don't worry."
“That's a relief. Which hospital are you heading to? I want to come see you."
Kaleb was rendered speechless. So, Jennie still managed to spend time with Sabrina despite his efforts. But it wasn't Sabrina's fault.
Sabrina provided them with the address of the nearest hospital.
