Shirley smiled. “Congratulations. Did you name the baby?" she asked.

"Yes, his name is Rogelio," Sergio said, leading them inside.

"Great name," Sabrina remarked.

The living room was spacious and already packed with relatives from both the Blakely and Nelson families. Leroy and Claire were hosting.

In the dining area, children, including Rudolf and Frankie, were playing.

Tyrone and Sabrina greeted Leroy, Claire, and other relatives, engaging in small talk.

Sabrina looked down at Jennie and asked, "Do you want to play with Frankie?"

Jennie thought for a moment, realizing there wasn't much to do with the baby, and went to find Frankie.

Shirley greeted Marnie's parents and the other guests.

Jamal smiled and asked, "Shirley, didn't you say you couldn't make it?"

Shirley hesitated before responding, “I had some school stuff, but I got a classmate to cover for me."

Shirley then realized Marnie had told everyone she wouldn't be coming.

“Shirley, you're graduating next year, right? If you can't find a job, talk to Sergio. He can get you a position at the company." Jamal spoke with feigned kindness but dismissed Shirley in his thoughts.

Jamal wondered why girls went to college when they would just get married. Marnie didn't attend college, yet she married well and would enjoy a life of luxury. No matter how good Shirley was at school, she would still need to work.

Just as Shirley was about to reply, Sergio smiled and said, “Funnily enough, Shirley interned at the Blakely Group this summer and was top -notch. I only learned later she's Marnie's cousin."

Jamal's face stiffened. “Really? Shirley, make sure you follow Sergio's guidance and ask if you have any questions.”

Shirley didn't reply to this and instead asked, “Where's your wife?"

“She's in the bedroom with Marnie. You haven't seen the baby yet, have you? He's got delicate features and will be as handsome as Sergio," Jamal said.

Sergio didn't say anything.

Shirley was glad Jamal had mentioned the baby first and said, "That's wonderful. Who doesn't love a good-looking baby? Is he awake now? I'd like to see him."
