Chapter: 2082
Shirley glanced at Tyrone and noted his meaningful look. She froze, stunned, wondering if he had noticed something amiss.
"Hey." Sergio tapped the table twice and, seeing Shirley alert, inquired, “Are you heading out?"
Shirley bit her lip and responded, “I got something to tell you."
“What's that?"
"It's very important."
"Give me a moment." Sergio attended to the last of his duties until all the guests had departed. He then approached Shirley. “Let's go. We can talk in the car. I'll drive you home."
"Alright."
Once they were in the car, Sergio looked at Shirley and asked, “What was it you wanted to discuss?"
Shirley hesitated for a moment. If she directly claimed that Rogelio wasn't his child, would he dismiss it as absurd and get upset? She cautiously said, "Well, have you ever noticed any resemblance between yourself and Rogelio?"
Back in Marnie's bedroom, Shirley struggled to get a clear look at Rogelio's little face.
Sergio glanced at Shirley and commented, "He's just a one-month-old baby. How can you tell who he takes after?”
"You can actually tell by the shape of the baby's eyes and mouth,”
Shirley replied.
“Rogelio bears a strong resemblance to me," Sergio asserted.
Shirley widened her eyes. “Do you really think so?"
Shirley stared at Sergio. Just a moment ago, he said he couldn't tell, but now he was saying the baby looked like him. He must have said it casually.
"Seriously, what's on your mind?" Sergio raised an eyebrow as he questioned her.
Shirley didn't dwell on it and continued, "Marnie didn't produce any breast milk after giving birth. Some mothers produce less milk, but it's unusual to have none at all. She fell down the stairs and had a premature delivery. She even went to the hospital farthest from you and your mother. You and your mother only arrived after she gave birth. Can't you tell there's something amiss?"
Sergio was displeased to hear this. He gave Shirley a cold look and questioned, "What exactly are you suggesting?"
The tension in the car escalated.
