Chapter: 2083
The driver in front held his breath. He didn't appreciate Marnie since she bossed him around.
Intrigued, the driver strained to listen.
Shirley gazed into Sergio's eyes. "Marnie wasn't pregnant. Maybe she was, but not anymore later. Rogelio isn't your son. She brought him from somewhere else."
After her words, a profound silence filled the car. It was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
Sergio stared at Shirley in disbelief and chuckled. "Taking such a risk, a paternity test would reveal the truth. What would she gain by doing so?"
“Your mother dislikes her. A child could help her secure a place within the Blakely family quickly."
"It still doesn't make sense..." Sergio frowned.
Shirley locked eyes with Sergio and suggested, "Since you know a paternity test can uncover the truth, why not do one?"
Sergio stared at Shirley, sounding puzzled. "Even if she did those things, she's your cousin. Why would you betray her?"
"Get the paternity test done, and I'll explain everything to you afterward."
Sergio chuckled again, his eyes gleaming with amusement and mockery.
"What's so funny?" Shirley asked.
Sergio didn't reply.
At a red light, Sergio instructed the driver to retrieve a document bag from the glove compartment.
Sergio passed it to Shirley. "Open it and have a look."
Perplexed, Shirley glanced at Sergio, then took the document bag, and extracted the papers. The first thing that caught her eye was the prominent title that read, "Paternity Test Results."
A surge of dread washed over Shirley. Flipping to the last page, she read the conclusion. "Based on DNA analysis, the results confirm a parent-child relationship between Specimen 1 (Sergio) and Specimen 2 (Rogelio)."
Shirley was shocked, her eyes wide with disbelief. How could this be?
Was the paternity test mistaken, or had she been completely wrong in her suspicions?
As if sensing her thoughts, Sergio remarked, “I personally took Rogelio for the test."
