Chapter: 2092
"Okay. I understand. I'll be there soon," Sergio said to his phone.
Then, Sergio stood up, grabbed his coat from the chair, and said, "Something came up at work. I need to go."
Marnie's expression shifted. “It's so late. Can't it wait until tomorrow?"
“It's urgent. Go to bed early. Don't wait up." After this, Sergio walked out immediately.
Marnie asked, “Can't someone else handle it? What about your vice manager?"
“He's on a business trip."
Marnie was at a loss for words.
No matter what Marnie said, Sergio kept walking out.
Marnie could only watch him leave, feeling so angry that she wanted to break something.
In the car, Sergio felt even hotter. He had been through a lot.
Recalling Marnie's odd behavior tonight, he quickly understood what had happened. Was Marnie anxious because she knew he had met with Shirley?
With a grim expression, Sergio told the driver to take him to the hospital before heading to the office.
At the Blakely Group building, most departments were dark except for a few with night shifts.
The R&D center had a faint light coming through its windows. When Sergio arrived, Matteo was already there waiting.
"Mr. Blakely, this is a report on Shirley's recent activities."
Matteo then placed a folder on the desk, looking serious.
“Anything unusual?" Sergio asked as he began to review it.
“Shirley was there during our team-building trip to the hot springs resort before the new year," Matteo replied, glancing at Sergio. “Not long after, Shirley became pregnant. She gave birth on the same day as your wife, but Shirley's baby didn't make it."
What a coincidence. The coincidence was so uncanny that even Matteo began to question if he had mistaken someone else.
However, Matteo's team had confirmed that Trevor had mistakenly entered Shirley's room that day, and Shirley's child was supposed to be Trevor's.
