Chapter: 2115
The moment Keilani met Lance's gaze, a wave of guilt and unease gnawed at her, and her scalp tingled. She felt as if he had seen through her schemes, bidding his time to expose her.
Soon, Keilani regained her composure. Whether Lance had seen through her schemes didn't matter since their parents stood by her side.
Keilani's acting skills kicked in as she resumed being pitiful. Her face drained of color, and her shoulders quivered. In a voice barely above a whisper, she called out, "Lance."
Seeing this, Zandra gently patted Keilani's shoulder to comfort her and rebuked Lance, "Your sister is still unwell. Can't you just show a bit of kindness to her?"
Glancing at Keilani, Lance smiled. "The fact that she is being treated here peacefully instead of awaiting sentencing in Mathias' detention house is my greatest act of kindness."
"You..." Zandra's fury toward Lance intensified.
At the mention of the detention house, Keilani's resentment and bitterness surged. She pinched her thigh hard, tears brimming in her eyes as she sought refuge in Zandra's arms. "Mom, will Lance lock me in that dark room again? Please, talk to him. Tell him I will listen to him if he doesn't put me in that dark room!"
"Don't be afraid. I'm here," Zandra comforted Keilani gently. “I'll talk to your brother outside. Be good.”
"Okay." Keilani nodded with a feigned look of being timid.
Zandra's eyes turned cold as she glanced at Lance. She stood up and walked out, announcing, “Lance, come with me."
Lance remained still for a moment, scrutinizing Keilani.
Keilani recoiled, avoiding his gaze.
With a sardonic smile, Lance followed Zandra out of Keilani's ward.
"What did you do to your sister in Mathias that made her like this? You're her elder brother, for crying out loud!" Zandra snapped once they were in the stairwell.
“Mom, please calm down. Anger does no good to your health," Lance said, his expression unchanging.
"How can I be calm with Keilani's current state?" Zandra retorted.
Lance looked around casually, stepped back, and leaned against the wall, observing Zandra quietly.
With a stern face, Zandra asked, "Did you threaten to kick her out of the house?"
Lance remained silent, his expression calm.
After a few seconds, Zandra hissed, "Say something!"
