Chapter: 1014
Anthony hesitated for a moment while looking at the lovely woman before nodding.

"Sure."

Lately, Azuba Company had been facing issues, and the bank hadn't approved his loan yet. He needed to find an alternative solution.

The woman happened to be the daughter of the bank's president. Only when they were together could he secure a loan from the bank.

Anthony wasn't the sole one feeling disheartened that evening.

The moment Kayla rejoined her friend, her friend asked, "How did it go? Are Mr. and Mrs. Dreskin willing to concede?"

Kayla regarded her friend solemnly and replied, "No."

Her friend was baffled.

"Why not? Didn't you mention that your mother asked you to purchase this necklace? She and Mr. Dreskin's mother are so close. Why wouldn't Mr. Dreskin agree?"

Her friend found it hard to believe. She scrunched her brows and mused, "Is it because of Mrs. Dreskin? Did she not want to give it?"

Not wanting to lose face, Kayla nodded and admitted, "Yes."

Compared to the rejection of Claudia, who had no personal ties to her, Bennett's refusal left her feeling more embarrassed.

Understanding her predicament, the friend remarked, “There's nothing we can do. If Mrs. Dreskin doesn't want to give in, we can't pressure her."

Kayla had been stung by Bennett's words and now, she bristled at the thought of it.

"I didn't pressure her. She doesn't even like the necklace much. She refused just because I asked her to give in."

Taking a deep breath, her friend said, "Do you think Mrs. Dreskin is deliberately going against you?"

"Of course!" Kayla said.

"Maybe she misunderstood something about me."

As expected, her friend quickly replied, “Ah, I see! So, Mrs. Dreskin thinks you and Mr. Dreskin are too close."

Her friend grasped the implication. However, Kayla said, “Perhaps I'm overthinking it.”

"The most common reason for one woman to be hostile toward another is often a man. Though Mr. Dreskin is exceptional, Kayla, you're no slouch yourself. Mrs. Dreskin might be reading too much into it. I mean, they are married. Shouldn't she have more confidence in herself?"

Kayla's mood improved when she heard her friend's words about Claudia.

She remarked, “If that's the case, I can empathize. After all, her ex-fiance left her at the wedding."

“Oh, you are right!"
