Chapter: 1013
Even if she worked hard for many lifetimes, she couldn't match Bennett's wealth.
Naturally, she didn't say this in front of him.
After all, she wanted to maintain her pride, but she also didn't want to hurt Bennett's feelings.
Turning to him, Claudia asked, "Don't you think the funds I use for the gifts I give you need to come from my own earnings?"
Bennett's heart melted at her words.
It felt warm and comforting.
Claudia had a way of making people feel good.
The two walked to the car's side. Bennett opened the passenger door and put his hand on the roof to make sure she wouldn't bump her head.
After Claudia got in, he closed the door and went around to the driver's seat.
The black Bentley silently glided into the night, gradually fading from view.
As the Bentley vanished, Anthony felt a sharp ache in his heart.
There was a time when he had been the one standing by Claudia's side, holding her hand.
However, within just six months, everything changed.
Lately, he struggled to find peaceful sleep each night. When he awoke in the midnight hours, memories of his more than ten years with Claudia flooded his mind.
He had always believed that since they had grown up together for twelve years, their bond was more than mere love; it was like family.
He had thought no matter what happened, he and Claudia would forever remain inseparable.
Yet, it had all come down to a wedding, and he lost her.
If he could turn back time, he would never choose to walk away that day.
Regrettably, it was too late for such wishes. Claudia was getting farther and farther away from him.
“Mr. Nixon, what has caught your eye?" his female companion inquired with a furrowed brow.
Anthony shifted his gaze away and shook his head.
“Nothing. I just saw an old friend. Come on, I'll take you home."
When she looked at his gentle demeanor, the woman's irritation dissipated.
“I'd like to grab a bite. Would you join me, Mr. Nixon?"
