Claudia covered her face with her hand and said, "Please, disregard the call."

Her voice was hushed.

Bennett turned to retrieve the phone from the bedside table, but upon seeing the caller ID, he quickly covered Claudia with the quilt, hastily donned his trousers, switched on the light, and handed her the phone.

“It's a call from Elmo."

Claudia's embarrassment vanished instantly when she heard his words.

She sensed that something was amiss. She promptly took the phone and answered, “Hello, Elmo?"

"Claudia, please come to the central hospital as soon as possible.

Your father suddenly collapsed after answering a phone call tonight.

We've just arrived at the hospital with an ambulance."

Claudia's complexion drained of color. She turned to Bennett in a panic, her voice trembling as she said, “Bennett...”

The fear had taken hold of her, causing her hands to tremble and her throat to constrict. Even when she managed to utter "Bennett," her voice quivered.

Bennett cradled her with one arm and gently took the phone from her trembling hand.

"Elmo, it's Bennett. What happened to Claudia's dad?"

“Mr. Dreskin, Mr. Marshall passed out and has been brought to the hospital. Please accompany his daughter to the central hospital,” said Elmo.

"Understood, we're on our way."

Bennett hung up swiftly, covering Claudia with a thin quilt. Then he left the bed, went to the closet, and selected a suit of clothing.

"Don't worry, darling. Let's get dressed first. I'll take you to the hospital."
