Chapter: 106
An understanding glance passed between the manager and Jackson, and they remained silent.
Claudia couldn't remain seated any longer. She felt the urge to visit the restroom and said, "Let's head back home."
Bennett glanced sideways at her without answering directly. "Feeling any better now?"
Claudia's face burned with embarrassment. “Yes, I'm fine now." Why did he have to bring up that topic again? Her embarrassment was palpable.
Bennett stood up and pulled over the wheelchair in the corner. Upon noticing the Lingering presence of the manager and Jackson, he couldn't help but grimace. “Why are you still Lurking around here?"
Jackson and the manager stood up, their faces registering surprise. “We'll take our leave now, Mr. Dreskin, Mrs. Dreskin."
Claudia was still not accustomed to the way they addressed her as Mrs. Dreskin. She felt a bit embarrassed, but she couldn't let it show on her face. She could only pretend to be composed and offer a smile. “Okay, goodbye."
“Goodbye! Mr. Dreskin, Mrs. Dreskin." “Goodbye! Mr. Dreskin, Mrs. Dreskin."
As soon as they exited the room, both Jackson and the branding manager let out a sigh of relief.
Glancing back towards the room, the manager turned to Jackson. "Is she truly Mrs. Dreskin?"
By truly, he implied the circulating rumors that suggested Bennett had married Claudia merely for her value.
Jackson had seen Bennett's character over years of service and knew he Was above such manipulative actions.
He didn't bother with clarifying but simply stated, “Mr. Dreskin had me set up their marital home a month before Mrs. Dreskin's hospital discharge."
“OMG!
The branding manager was taken aback, beads of cold sweat rolling down his face.
A wave of relief washed over him as he recalled his respectful behavior towards Claudia earlier. Disrespecting her could've led to his dismissal.
Meanwhile, as soon as Mathews hopped into the car, Miguel snapped at him, "Did you lose your mind back there? Bennett brought Claudia here for a reason. Wasn't it evident enough? And you dared to show your care for Claudia so publicly! Do you even realize what you did?"
Bennett had given Mathews a stern look when he asked Miguel for the digestive enzyme pills.
Mathews laughed it off. “Didn't you see it?"
Miguel, still somewhat terrified, patted his chest. "See what?"
“They both seemed so distant."
Despite Bennett's efforts to show affection, Claudia was overly reserved and tense. It just didn't seem right.
