Chapter: 105
In panic, Claudia turned to the others. Their attention appeared to be absorbed by the contract discussions, all but Mathews oblivious to the unfolding drama.
A wave of relief washed over her as she wracked her brain, plotting a way to fix Bennett's collar and hide the lipstick mark.
But she couldn't come up with a solution. Any movement she made would surely draw the attention of everyone at the table.
Human nature was inherently drawn to motion. Anxiety gripped Claudia as she deliberated her options. Eventually, she resolved to have Bennett fix his collar himself.
Without thinking, her hand sneaked towards Bennett's sleeve under the table. But as she was about to give him a subtle tug, Bennett's hand unexpectedly dropped down. Claudia‘’s thumb and index finger grazed his warm pinkie.
She froze momentarily, swiftly withdrawing her hand when she realized what had happened.
She lifted her gaze and found herself locking eyes with his deep, penetrating black gaze.
I didn't mean to do that."
She quickly averted her gaze, not daring to address the issue of his collar.
Her hasty retreat prevented her from catching the elusive smile that played on Bennett's lips.
Observing this scene, Mathews lifted his phone and lightly tapped it against the table.
This action drew Miguel's attention. “What‘s the problem?"
“Nothing, my hand just slipped," Mathews responded nonchalantly, taking a sip of water.
Miguel dismissed the issue, his attention redirected to the contract at hand, the terms of which had already been negotiated.
The branding department's manager nervously extended the contract towards Bennett. "Mr. Dreskin, the contract is ready for your signature."
Bennett didn't even glance at the document. “Okay.”
The manager hesitated, wanting to ask if Bennett wanted to review the document, but thought better of it. He quickly signed the contract and handed it over to Miguel.
Miguel took the contract and requested Mathews’ signature.
It was only at that moment that Mathews shifted his gaze away and proceeded to sign his name on the contract.
Once the contract signing concluded, the dinner wrapped up.
After sharing some Light pleasantries, Miguel and Mathews made their exit.
Left behind were Claudia, Bennett, the branding department manager, and Jackson.
