Chapter: 1090
It was a good sleep without a dream.
Ahead was a red light, causing Bennett to halt the car. He cast a gentle smile her way and said, “I knew you had quite a good sleep.”
After all, she'd been snuggling close to him one moment, and the very next, she had drifted off.
Feeling a warmth rise to her cheeks at his insinuation, Claudia quickly explained, "Well... I stayed up late last night."
She hadn't intended to doze off right then. Before her shower, she was already sleepy, and after taking a shower, she managed to stay awake for a while.
While she was nestled in his embrace, his familiar scent enveloped her like a cozy blanket, making her feel even sleepier.
Bennett merely looked at her with a quiet smile.
Though he said nothing, his smile seemed that he had said something.
Ah, ah, ah, it was so embarrassing!
She was the only one who fell asleep when kissing, wasn't she?
And how should she react to his playful, knowing stare?
Claudia was so embarrassed she couldn't bring herself to meet Bennett's eyes. All she could do was fixate on the traffic light ahead, trying to distract herself by mentally counting down.
"10, 9, 7, 8... 1! The light changed to green!"
She stole a quick glance at Bennett, her cheeks burning.
The signal had turned green, but why hadn't Bennett driven off yet?!
She didn't want to revisit their earlier conversation.
Bennett's deep gaze met hers momentarily before he shifted his attention back to the road, finally accelerating the car.
Forget it. Maybe it was best not to tease her further.
When they arrived home, Marcia was caught off-guard seeing them together.
“Mrs. Dreskin, Mr. Dreskin..."
She'd assumed only Claudia would be home for lunch and hadn't made Bennett's share.
Even though she had prepared three dishes, the portions were not generous. Claudia couldn't possibly finish them all by herself.
However, if Bennett joined her for the meal, it wouldn't be enough.
Marcia hesitated, unsure of how to handle the situation.
