Chapter: 1096
Thinking of what Darnley had said, Claudia felt a bit awkward as she reiterated, “He asked me to maximize my gains from you as soon as possible when I am still useful."
What a good brother.
After saying that, Claudia asked curiously, “Does he genuinely detest you that much?"
"Yes," Bennett replied in a low voice.
"Did he say anything else?"
Shaking her head, Claudia responded, "Nope."
She took a breath, then added, "But he did mention you'd leave me in two years."
Upon hearing this, Claudia looked at him and casually questioned, "Do you plan on divorcing me in two years?"
Bennett looked at Claudia and raised an eyebrow curiously.
"What do you think?"
Hearing a question instead of an answer, Claudia felt uncomfortable.
Her nerves were already on edge when she posed the question. Now that Bennett had asked about her opinion, she didn't have the courage to answer or continue the conversation.
She gently squeezed Proudsnow's belly with her legs, prompting the horse to take a few steps forward.
“Shall we go back?"
Bennett glanced at his watch.
“Do you want to continue?"
Claudia shook her head.
“I'm a Little hungry," she said shyly.
“Then let's have dinner. Would you like to eat out at a restaurant?"
The maid hadn't prepared dinner yet.
After pondering for a moment, Claudia nodded.
It was nearly 5:30 p.m. when they changed out of their riding clothes and left the racecourse in casual attire.
Realizing that she hadn't informed Marcia that they wouldn't be home for dinner, Claudia quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Marcia at home.
Her call came just in time. Marcia had already prepped the ingredients and planned to cook them in ten minutes.
