Chapter: 1176
“It's a little chilly," she whispered.
She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist. Her expression was calm and content as she pressed her face against his chest.
"Let me hug you to keep warm."
Bennett clicked his tongue and held her tightly.
"Cold?"
Claudia gazed up at him. Her eyes shone as she nodded quickly and snuggled into his embrace.
“It's the wind. It's cold when it blows."
“Then let's go inside."
Her senses were captivated by the lingering sandalwood scent that clung to him. Breathing in deeply, she asked, “Bennett, why do you smell so good?"
He smiled down at her, amused by her sudden fondness. Just moments ago, she claimed not to feel the alcohol's effects, yet here she was, a bundle of affection and curiosity, asking questions.
"I used cologne," he explained.
But Claudia shook her head, taking another deep breath of his scent.
"It's more than cologne."
"Then what is it?"
She pondered his question, stumped.
“I don't know. I can't put my finger on it."
Being near Bennett or catching a whiff of his intoxicating scent filled her with relief and happiness.
Initially, Claudia assumed it was the perfume on his skin, but upon careful sniffing, she realized it was more complex.
The cold, woody fragrance intermingled with a unique scent she could only detect on him. It was subtle, blending delicately with the perfume.
“Either way, you smell really good."
She looked up at him to emphasize her point.
As the night breeze grew, Bennett held her even closer, treasuring the sensation of her body nestled against his. But he worried she might catch a cold if they lingered outside much longer.
A gust of wind blew harder, and Claudia snuggled closer to him, seeking refuge in his strong embrace. He felt her shiver and said, “Let's go back to the villa, okay?"
His voice was warm and protective as he wrapped his arms around her.
