Chapter: 1184
The bed was made up the same way it was before she left. She grabbed a shirt and shorts from the closet, changed into them, and collapsed into the bed.
Her body ached all over. After lying in the bed for a while, Claudia eventually dozed off.
As her grip on her phone relaxed, it slid out of her hand. It vibrated a few times, but Claudia did not feel or hear it.
She nodded off into a deep slumber. When she opened her eyes again, it was five o'clock in the afternoon.
She rolled over the bed, grabbed the phone, and learned that Bennett had sent her a message.
Claudia opened it with apprehension. Attached to the message was the address of the restaurant where the dinner party would be held.
She replied with an OK emoji and a message that said, "I've gone back to my father's house for dinner tonight."
Bennett must have gone back to work because he did not respond.
Sighing in relief, Claudia tossed the phone aside and went downstairs.
Chana prepared some soup for Claudia. After consuming the soup, Claudia grabbed some fish food.
She then proceeded to the pond to feed Jace's goldfish.
She left her phone in her room, making it impossible for her to know about the calls and messages she received.
Claudia threw the fish food into the pond, and the goldfish swam around in a frantic attempt to get some.
From outside, a car's engine roared and then faded away. She turned in the direction of the gate and saw Elmo approaching Jace.
Claudia dusted her hands off before walking to Jace. "Dad!"
“What are you doing here?" Jace exclaimed in astonishment upon seeing his daughter.
He suspected that the couple had a quarrel, but he decided against asking about it because it would be intrusive of him to do so.
"I missed you, so I came to see you." Claudia, like a spoiled little girl, held her father's hand. "How are you doing these days?"
“I'm doing great."
Seeing his daughter's happy expression, Jace immediately dismissed the idea that she had a fight with her husband.
Claudia's unexpected return made him think that she and Bennett had some sort of argument, but her cheerful demeanor put his worries to rest. He flashed her a grin and asked, "Will you have dinner here?
Where is Bennett?"
"He has to attend a dinner party tonight."
Jace nodded, satisfied at Claudia's response. "I see."
