Chapter: 12
He worried Delilah might take the situation too seriously, hence he refrained from bringing up Claudia. "You came here early in the morning by plane. You must be tired. Let me send you back to the hotel to have a rest."
Studying Anthony's face carefully, Delilah obediently nodded.
"Alright."
Yet, when Anthony was unaware, a satisfied smirk slid onto her face, displaying no signs of frailty or submission.
It should be happy Claudia was getting discharged from the hospital today. However, running into Delilah and Anthony was a real downer.
Jace had been pushing off tons of work because of Claudia's condition.
After ensuring she was safely home, he darted back to his office for a scheduled meeting.
Once back home, Claudia requested Aurora's assistance to prepare a bath.
It had been more than a month in the hospital without a decent shower.
The sight of Delilah upon her discharge had intensified her craving for a refreshing bath.
Claudia had just drifted off to sleep after a soothing bath when Delilah called.
She wasn't completely healed despite her discharge. The doctor had recommended her to rest more.
Her phone was buzzing furiously. Considering it might be her assistant, Claudia scowled and slowly rose from her bed to grab the phone.
Seeing an unfamiliar number, she scoffed.
Delilah wouldn't simply accept her defeat after all!
Answering the call, Claudia's tone was ice-cold. “Tell me, what do you want to say this time?"
From the other end of the Line, Delilah feigned surprise. "Cece, how'd you know it's me? No hidden intentions here. Just wanted to remind you that it's your 3rd anniversary with Anthony tomorrow.
Are you not planning to get married to him then?"
Upon uttering these words, Delilah erupted into laughter. Claudia could sense her smugness, even through the phone call.
It was hard not to seethe with rage. She had spent over a month in the hospital, experiencing sleepless nights due to excruciating pain in her ribs and Legs. Afraid of worrying Aurora and Jace, she had kept silent, biting into her pillow to endure the pain.
The endless nights had given her plenty of time to grasp reality.
Hearing Delilah's words, Claudia felt nothing but fury.
