Chapter: 1218
The idea of Claudia rushing into marriage was something she hadn't seen coming.

However, Claudia indeed got married unexpectedly fast.

While sipping water, Claudia heard Lucille's words and choked on her water. She coughed and her face turned red.

Embarrassed, she took a tissue and wiped her mouth. “I already explained to you before."

“Seriously? Did you never met Bennett and have a love-at-first-sight moment?"

A shade of pink crept on Claudia's cheeks. "Actually, I'd never really met him before. I might've just bumped into him from somewhere.

Like, maybe our paths crossed at some big events. You get me?"

Lucille knew that Claudia wouldn't lie. "Okay."

The two hadn't seen each other in a while, so they had plenty to catch up on.

As for what had happened to Lucille in the past two years, Claudia hesitated to ask her about it, worrying it might upset her.

Yet, Lucille began to share willingly. "I've finally escaped the Hayes family. Now, Liam Hayes and his true love can be together. I no longer have to endure his sister's disdain. And his mother even pointed at me and said that I was a hen that didn't lay eggs. What nonsense! Her son is impotent. How could she blame me for not being pregnant? Let me tell you, getting married is really not easy! Had I known they were this shameless, I'd rather have begged..."

Lucille suddenly stopped.

Puzzled, Claudia inquired, “Who would you beg for? You mentioned earlier no one was there for your family, right?"

“I would beg God! Honestly, if I could live my life again, the Hayes family would never be my choice!"

Seeing Lucille's frustration, Claudia couldn't help but feel a bit down herself.

She realized that given another chance, Lucille would choose the same path.

She didn't have a choice.

With this thought, Claudia let out a quiet sigh.

"Xavier, Mom is talking to you. Did you hear what she said?"

Felicity became frustrated with Xavier after noticing his distracted state. He had only been here for ten minutes and had already become lost in thought.

Their mother, Hannah Hinchcliffe, frowned with concern. “Is everything alright with the company? If you have some pressing matter to deal with, you can head back to sort it out. I'll be fine with Felicity keeping me company."

"It's not a big deal," Xavier replied casually.

Hannah nodded and changed the subject. "What are your thoughts on Miss Gordon?"

“There's not much to say."
