Chapter: 1222
Since they hadn't seen each other in a while, they had much to catch up on. They only briefly discussed their recent experiences in the restaurant, and there were still many things left unsaid between them.

Claudia was concerned about her friend and wondered what she had planned for her future. “Will you continue to play the violin?"

Lucille nodded. "Yes."

But her smile quickly faded as she delved into the topic. “Well, in the past, the Hayes family didn't permit me to continue my violin performances. They believed that constant shows would strain our relationship as a couple.

During that period, my family relied on financial support from the Hayes family to make ends meet, so I had no choice but to listen to them. Even though I haven't had any public performances in the past two years, I have been diligently practicing the violin in private.

The private room emanated a delightful aura of warmth and seclusion.

As they looked out of the wide-open window, a sprawling, vibrant garden unfolded, containing an array of beautiful and fragrant flowers.

It might have been the combination of the relaxed setting and the fact that it was in the past that prompted Lucille to open up further, sharing more about her experiences.

Claudia didn't interrupt her but Listened quietly.

"I must admit, the past two years have been challenging. Liam's sister has a close relationship with his ex-girlfriend and blamed me for their breakup. Initially, Liam's mother was kind to me, but soon after we married, Liam only visited once or twice a month. She believed that I couldn't win her son's heart and gradually began to treat me differently.

Now that we're divorced, I'd rather not comment on Liam. We no longer have any emotional connection, and if it weren't for my company, I would never have agreed to marry him."

Lucille turned her gaze back to the window and added, "It's only natural that he doesn't harbor any fondness for me."

She hadn't dared to tell these things to Claudia in the past.

During the two years she wasn't allowed to perform, Lucille felt like a caged bird, trapped and unable to spread her wings. Fortunately, she had emerged from those confinements, embracing her newfound freedom and pursuing her passions.

Even though Lucille had shared her experiences of the past two years, her words remained concise and direct. But Claudia could sense the underlying sadness in her words.

Claudia pursed her lips and swallowed the bitterness in her throat.

"So, how did you get a divorce from Liam?"

In response, Lucille spoke with a touch of sarcasm. "My family's struggling company should have gone under two years ago. I fought to keep it afloat for those two years. But it couldn't last any longer.

Now that it had gone bankrupt, there was no reason for me to remain with the Hayes family anymore."

Of course, the divorce had not been an easy process.

Although Liam's mother was dissatisfied with her, she had never contemplated initiating a divorce between her son and Lucille. Not at that particular time, anyway.

Lucille's family had just gone bankrupt. If news got out about the divorce, people would accuse the Hayes family of taking advantage of her during a difficult time.

However, Lucille couldn't bear to stay with the Hayes family for a second longer.

Besides, given that Casey Rayne had personally contacted her, it would have been incredibly shameless for Lucille to remain under their roof.
