Chapter: 1225
Claudia and Lucille hadn't seen each other for a while, and today should have been a joyful occasion. However, after hearing about Lucille's past two years, Claudia felt sorry for her.
While lying on the bed, Claudia recounted what Lucille had shared.
She found herself overwhelmed with emotions and unintentionally drifted off to sleep.
As soon as Bennett entered the house, Marcia came out of the kitchen holding a spatula.
She appeared slightly nervous. “Mr. Dreskin, welcome home. Dinner will be ready in twenty minutes."
It was just after 6 p.m. when Bennett, having returned immediately after a company meeting, arrived home earlier than usual.
He nodded and asked, “Has my wife come back?"
"Yes, she has."
Marcia looked at Bennett and wanted to say something more.
After some hesitation, she decided to tell him. “Mr. Dreskin, when your wife came home, she didn't seem happy.”
“Thank you, Marcia, Bennett replied in a low voice. He turned and headed upstairs.
When he reached the second floor, it was oddly quiet. There was no music, and Claudia wasn't in the piano room.
He proceeded to the master bedroom and noticed the door unlocked. He gently turned the knob and opened the door.
The room was dim and quiet, and as he entered, he discovered Claudia sleeping in the bed.
Perhaps she was feeling a bit cold, and she had wrapped herself in the quilt, leaving her hands and feet exposed.
She reminded him of a vulnerable kitten.
His heart softened at the sight of her sleeping peacefully. Leaning down, he brushed the hair from her face and planted a tender kiss on her cheek, Then he called her name softly. "Cece."
Claudia had a restless sleep with several disjointed dreams. When she heard her name called, she couldn't tell whether it was a dream or reality.
"Cece."
It wasn't until she heard the voice call her once again that Claudia stirred. As she slowly opened her eyes, she saw Bennett's face gazing lovingly at her.
Her beautiful eyes blinked at him in bewilderment. It took some time before Claudia came to her senses and comprehended her surroundings.
“Bennett?” Claudia's voice was hoarse and sluggish, having just woken up.
She lifted her arms and encircled them around his neck, then rose to her feet and hugged him tightly, snuggling into Bennett's embrace.
Why was she acting so clingy?
