Chapter: 1261
Shortly after, the office door swung open.
Jackson appeared with Baylor, saying, “Mr. Dreskin, Baylor and the team are here."
Stepping inside, Baylor felt a shiver run down his spine as he took in Bennett's stern expression.
No wonder Jackson had them wait outside earlier.
It was evident that Bennett was in a bad mood.
Jackson's role was simply to escort them to the office; what happened next was out of his hands.
Before leaving, he quietly looked at the sofa and didn't find Claudia.
He guessed that she must be in the lounge.
It was Baylor and the others' good fortune to be present on a day Claudia visited.
Though Bennett's expression remained stoic upon their entry, it was a marked improvement from his earlier demeanor after the meeting.
Jackson gently shut the door and retreated to his office, where his assistant approached with a hint of excitement.
"Jackson, is it true Mrs. Dreskin was here?"
With a nonchalant look, Jackson said, "Was Mr. Dreskin upset during the meeting?"
When he heard his words, the assistant frowned.
"Mr. Dreskin didn't get angry; he simply asked about the whereabouts of the group's funds."
Even though over thirty minutes had elapsed, he still felt scared when he recalled the incident.
During that moment, Bennett remained seated, gazing at the group leader with a calm expression, and inquired in a composed manner, "The company has provided your group with a significant amount of funds. Where was that money utilized?"
It was hard to tell whether he was happy or angry from his tone, but the whole office fell into a depressing atmosphere in an instant.
To the side, the assistant made a lot of mistakes while typing. As he corrected them, the sound of the keyboard was the sole sound in the quiet conference room.
Bennett also cast a brief glance in his direction because of this.
At that moment, the assistant's hands were shaking noticeably.
Jackson gave a nod and said, “Time to call it a day. You can go home and take a rest. It's been a long day for you."
The assistant was moved and looked at Jackson.
"So, can I go now, Jackson?"
