Chapter: 1263
It was unusual for Bennett to call and ask him to go home.
Jackson let out a sigh of relief as he picked up; it seemed the day's tensions were finally over.
He couldn't help feeling thankful for Claudia's visit.
He really did hope she'd visit more frequently.
Claudia was surprised by how quiet the lounge was. She had been worried about overhearing Bennett's discussion with others.
Even though she was Bennett's wife, business talks were often confidential. She felt it might be improper for her to listen in, considering she was not involved.
Once the door shut, Claudia realized her concerns were unnecessary.
She didn't even know if Bennett and the others had finished their conversation, let alone what they were talking about.
Because she couldn't hear any sound coming from outside at all.
Drawn to the window, Claudia found herself fascinated by the view of people heading out from work below. She rested her chin on her hands, absorbed in the scene.
She was so engrossed that Bennett's return went unnoticed.
When she caught the familiar scent of spruce, she paused in surprise.
Instinctively, she turned around and saw him standing behind her, his arm encircling her.
Claudia glanced up at him and asked, “Are you done?"
“Yes, I'm done with work. What are you looking at?"
Claudia pointed out of the window and said, “From up here, they don't look so tiny, and I can see everything so clearly!"
Then, gesturing to the left, she added, “See that place over there?
It's the alley right there. I spotted a couple arguing earlier. I have no idea what they were fighting about. Then, they just kissed.
And they're still kissing!"
"Where?"
“Look over there, by that tree to the left. You need to peek between the leaves to spot it!"
Claudia was bubbling with excitement, having never witnessed anything quite like it before.
“Can you see them?" Turning, she caught Bennett's gaze once more.
He gazed back, her sparkling eyes stirring something in him.
