Chapter: 1269
"Sure thing. It's totally okay."
His eyes were fully focused on her, so much so, it appeared as though he was reading her mind.
"You don't seem to approve of this, do you?"
“Of course not. I really appreciate it all. I'm just concerned about it affecting your work," she answered with a slight cough.
“Acknowledging and admiring the beautiful things of life can make people feel better. It also helps the employees to relax and adjust their mood whenever they are busy and feel tired. You are doing a good thing."
He praised her in every way possible.
That was a fact that Claudia noticed. Blushing deeply, she touched her red cheeks and said, "You're just exaggerating everything."
Just then, the waiter arrived to serve the dishes, putting a close to that conversation.
This was a really good restaurant. The dishes definitely lived up to the reviews and the calm environment made the overall experience quite enchanting. No wonder they had to book their table half a day in advance.
Just as they were leaving the restaurant, Claudia caught sight of Anthony. Seeing him was almost enough to ruin what had been a perfect night.
It had been a month since she last saw him, He had acted weird and said some strange things then.
Despite the fact that only half a year had passed since they got separated, his presence in her life felt so distant and foreign.
Perhaps it had to do with just how bad the relationship had been to her, both mentally and emotionally. It took her some time to realize what a waste of time the whole thing was. But, once she figured it out, she left and never looked back.
Besides, she was in love with Bennett now.
In the space of just six months, she had fell head over heels in love with him.
She would never be able to disentangle herself from the web of love that bound her and Bennett together. Their love for each other was that strong.
In an attempt to avoid having to greet Anthony, Claudia looked away from where he stood.
Nevertheless, her reaction didn't go unnoticed by Bennett. Smiling, he held her waist and pulled her into his arms.
The two of them walked straight past Anthony, ignoring his presence.
Anthony, with a smile on his face, was about to speak when they walked past him. He could do nothing but stare at their backs with bitterness in his heart.
He was well aware that there was no way on earth he could win Claudia back.
Shaking his head sadly, he turned and walked away.
Claudia and Bennett encountered Anthony by chance, but they didn't dwell on it. Outside the restaurant, darkness enveloped the streets.
Pedestrians bustled by, some in a rush, others sauntering at a leisurely pace.
