Claudia hastily excused herself to avoid further questioning, citing piano practice as her urgent task.

However, the sound of the doorbell ringing stalled her.

Could this be another person sent by Bennett?

Left with no option, Claudia turned around to answer the door, revealing an elegant Lady upon opening it.

Claudia was taken aback. "Hello, may I know whom you're seeking?”

The woman was draped in a luxurious dress. The white camellia flowers adorning the black fabric augmented her grace and dignity.

The lady introduced herself in a poised manner. “Hello, I'm Jolie Dreskin."

Examining the extended hand, Claudia remained clueless about the situation at hand.

Despite the woman's haughty demeanor, Claudia extended her hand and shook it as a gesture of politeness

“A pleasure to meet you.” Surveying the woman before her, Jolie was puzzled. Had Benico's secretary goofed up? Why did Bennett's wife seem so clueless?

Jolie was annoyed that Claudia didn't seem to know who she was.

She didn't mince words and stated with a tinge of disgust, "I'm Bennett's stepmother.”

"Oh, so you're that mistress who seduced Bennett's father!"

Realizing her indiscretion, Claudia quickly covered her mouth with her hand, blinked her eyes, and Looked at Jolie innocently. "I apologize What brings you here today?"

Jolie's expression hardened. Claudia's remark was a bitter pill to swallow.

“Is Bennett around?"

"No."

After a brief pause, Claudia clarified, "You're here for Bennett, then. For a moment, I actually assumed you had come to see me."

Upon hearing this, Jolie asked, “What are you implying?"

Claudia covered her mouth again and insisted, “Nothing! I didn't intend any offense."

Jolie's complexion changed, and she was furious as she tried to assert her seniority. “I'm Bennett's stepmother and an elder to you. Shouldn't you, as his wife, at least invite me in instead of conversing at the doorway?"
