Chapter: 168
“I'm interested in profits, not hollow promises and unrealistic plans. I have no need for a non-performer who only knows how to waste time at work! Do you comprehend my point?”
Upon Bennett's biting remark, the person in charge paled. "Mr. Dreskin, please grant us another opportunity. One week--"
Bennett's icy stare made him instantly reconsider his request.
“Three...Three days. We'll present a sound plan within three days!"
"Three days it is," Bennett affirmed unwaveringly.
The Internet buzzed with chatter about Claudia. The wave of criticism hit Anthony and Delilah full force.
Lately, the Nixon family had become the subject of mockery and jokes in town. Of course, Claudia also endured a few cutting remarks.
One such sour remark on Facebook caught Claudia's eye.
“Talk about a Lucky break, huh? Another man just swooped in in time to rescue her. And Anthony and Delilah, they're getting Lambasted. But hey, no one should be blamed for falling in love with someone."
Claudia used to maintain a low profile, but something changed after she stood up against Delilah. She could no longer tolerate the humiliation inflicted by others.
She saw the post, and she retorted with a sharp comment. "Try not to be so envious of me."
Aurora was just about to share her thoughts on the same post, but seeing Claudia's fierce reply, she almost doubled over in laughter.
Getting in on the action, she added her comment, “Well said!"
As Claudia was about to put away her phone, a message from Aurora popped up.
“LOL, you're brilliant! Have you seen it? That Saylor Finch's too scared to utter a peep! Hey! She even removed her post! This is hilarious!"
Holding her phone, Claudia texted back, “Just picked up this neat trick.”
She was no Longer the timid pushover she used to be.
“Great trick!" Claudia didn't continue the chat with Aurora. She had to record a piano piece for someone. Having just received the music sheet, she needed to get it down before the recording session tomorrow.
In the evening, when Jace got home, Claudia decided to bring up the events of the previous night.
Although raised by Jace, certain private matters still felt awkward to discuss.
Claudia understood Jace’s concerns. She shyly caught his eye, spoon in mouth.
“He spent Last night in the study."
Jace exhaled in relief. Although Bennett and Claudia were legally married, Claudia was still recovering from her breakup with Anthony. He didn't think it would be appropriate for Bennett and Claudia to share a bed just yet.
Feeling a bit embarrassed himself, Jace said, “I might not know the full story between you and Bennett, but I can tell that he treats you far better than that jerk. Support and understand each other. And if any issues arise, remember, communication is key."
