Chapter: 197
Eyeing the man seated next to her, Claudia removed his coat she was wearing and placed it beside her. "We're here."
The man gradually opened his eyes, peeking out of the window before turning to look at her.
“Alright. Get some rest. Good night.”
“Good night to you too."
Observing his return to his usual demeanor, Claudia exhaled a sigh of relief.
She found Bennett's tenderness unsettling. The car was filled with an awkward yet romantic ambience, making her feel somewhat uncomfortable.
The driver had already prepared Claudia's wheelchair. Once she exited the vehicle, she quickly took her seat.
Before shutting the door, Claudia glanced back at the car. In the low light, she saw the man's gaze fixed on her.
Under the dim light, his stare was as predatory as a ravenous wolf. Taken aback, she quickly slammed the door shut.
The resulting sound was thunderous. She was terrified that she had exerted excessive force.
Bennett could sense her fright.
Suppressing a laugh, he remained seated inside the car.
Noticing Bennett's amusement, the driver asked curiously, “Mr. Dreskin, what has put you in such a good mood? Is there some pleasant news?”
“Just had a Little bunny hop into my arms.”
Although Bennett's response was cryptic and the driver didn't grasp his meaning, he chose to echo Bennett's happiness.
“That sounds delightful indeed."
Truthfully, the driver was clueless about Bennett's statement.
As Claudia disappeared into the villa, Bennett's gaze followed her. His smile faded when she was out of sight, replaced by his habitual cold demeanor. "Let's head back."
His icy command sent a shiver down the driver's spine.
“As you wish, sir."
No sooner had the car left the villa complex, than Bennett received a call from Breck. Breck, along with others, was at Emides Bar and had extended an invitation to Bennett.
"Well... You stood us up the day before yesterday. We expect you here tonight."
“I'LL be there shortly."
Upon ending the call, Bennett directed the driver, "To the Emides Bar." His acceptance was not out of consideration for Breck.
