Chapter: 282
Patty's rage swelled noticeably. Observing this, a staff member shot a look to his companions, stating, “This is Miss Rivera's private changing area. Why are unimportant individuals permitted to enter?
No sooner had the staff member finished his sentence than the other two staff members briskly approached Claudia and Joann, saying, “Our apologies, this is Miss Rivera's personal dressing room. We need you to exit.”
Joann's brow furrowed.
“Wasn't today's event supposed to be a charity performance? Isn't this the only dressing room available?"
Just as her words hung in the air, a pair walked in. One of them was Darla Davies, a musician Claudia was acquainted with.
However, before Claudia had a chance to greet Darla, the two staff members unceremoniously ushered Claudia and Joann toward the exit. "You both need to leave. Miss Rivera wishes not to see you here.”
It was clear that Darla and her companion, like everyone else, were here for today's charity event. Their arrival proved that the dressing room was not solely reserved for Patty.
Yet, in their attempts to appease Patty, these staff members lied and attempted to kick Claudia out.
Fury sparked in Joann's eyes. Just as she was about to retort, Claudia held up her hand to stop her.
“Very well, then please relay to your superior that my Leg injury has flared up, and I won't be participating in today's event.”
After delivering her message, Claudia glanced at Joann and promptly made her exit.
Darla and her companion were both flabbergasted. "Wasn't Claudia expected to be today’s star attraction?”
Feeling a sense of remorse, the staff member beside Patty said, "Her leg's still not fully healed. We can't insist on her taking the spotlight, can we, Miss Davies?"
Although Darla arrived a tad late and wasn't entirely aware of the preceding events, the sight of Patty helped her form an assumption.
She simply nodded, refraining from commenting. After all, her role was merely professional, and she didn't possess any decision-making power.
Patty's countenance revealed a sense of satisfaction when she noticed Claudia's departure.
“Not all are cut out for such grand events."
She sneered triumphantly, basking in a wave of contentment.
News of Claudia's inability to perform, owing to her injured foot, quickly reached Trudy Russell, the event main organizer.
Claudia's excuse failed to appease Trudy, as Claudia was a crucial part of the event.
To outsiders, Claudia's absence might seem trivial, but Trudy understood the positive global sentiment Claudia's presence would garner.
The more popular the charity event, the better.
Patty was a renowned local musician, and Claudia held a similar stature internationally. A successful event would bode well for future initiatives, allowing the organization to extend support to a larger number of deaf people.
Ever since Claudia's car accident two months ago, Trudy had been in constant touch with her assistant, Joann. Joann assured her Claudia would be able to make it.
