Chapter: 287
The motive behind their hosted events was clear. It was to boost funds and attention for the hearing-impaired community.
A pledge from Bennett would not only ensure steady future donations but also tap into Claudia's extensive network and clout. Her departure would certainly set tongues wagging, the repercussion on their organization contingent on Bennett's public statement.
It was evident that Bennett demanded answers for Claudia.
Trudy, quick on her feet, directed her aide to locate the dressing room supervisor. Swiftly advancing, she implored, "Mr. Dreskin, Mrs. Dreskin, could we have another opportunity? I've instructed my aide to bring the responsible party from the dressing room to apologize, Mrs. Dreskin. The show is set to commence in less than thirty minutes, and you're our star performer. Let's deliberate on how to resolve this issue."
Upon assessing the situation, Egan chimed in, "Mr. Dreskin, rest assured. We will clarify the occurrence to Mrs. Dreskin! It's too hot out here. Perhaps we could step inside for a discussion?"
Trudy and Egan addressed the issue amiably. Had it been Claudia, she would have easily agreed.
However, Bennett, notorious for his relentless and stern business demeanor, remained unyielding.
Despite Trudy's and Egan's earnest pleas, Bennett was unmoved. He merely tightened his grip on Claudia’s hand, stating bluntly, “To my understanding, the decision to dismiss my wife was not solely your staff's initiative."
Bennett accepted an umbrella from his driver, holding it over Claudia.
“The sun is a bit intense. Perhaps you'd prefer to wait in the car?"
Bennett's tone contrasted sharply when addressing Claudia versus Trudy and Egan.
His baritone voice was steady and soothing. As he spoke, his warm breath grazed Claudia's nape, causing her to involuntarily clench her fingers.
A sensation akin to fire spread from her neck to her cheeks.
Claudia lifted her gaze to Bennett. Upon locking eyes with his dark gaze, her heart skipped a beat and a blush tinted her cheeks. "I'm fine. It isn't that hot, actually."
Having uttered those words, Claudia suddenly grasped her mistake.
It appeared that she wasn't playing along with Bennett's act as well as she should have.
Claudia quickly regained her composure, seeking to evade any direct confrontation, as she didn't want to give Trudy an opportunity to exploit her words as an excuse.
However, Bennett seemed unfazed. He merely nodded in acknowledgement towards Claudia. As he shifted his focus back to Trudy and the rest, his demeanor hardened. In a low tone, he responded, "Mr. Newman, you're correct. It is quite hot out here. I'1l cut to the chase then.
I won't hesitate to stand by my wife's side at all times. While she possesses a gentle disposition, I do not. I propose one solution: the performer who caused my wife distress must leave, and your team must apologize to my wife publicly.”
Trudy reacted in disbelief.
“Mr. Dreskin, our charity event is quite large. Patty, our another star performer, has quite a fanbase. A sudden replacement may not sit well."
Bennett, unwilling to negotiate, curtly replied, “Then we leave and you adjust the final act accordingly."
"Mr. Dreskin!"
Upon seeing Bennett's icy expression, Trudy swiftly interjected, "Even if we agreed to replace the person, it's far too late now. Patty is already preparing for the show's opening act. We simply can't secure a different singer at such short notice..."
